Thoughts on Ulotaront (SEP-363856)?

To be honest, I am kinda psyched for this potential new generation of antipsychotics. Ulotaront got the “Breakthrough therapy designation” from the FDA. Which certainly gives it much promise.

It works on TAAR1 and serotonin receptors exclusively as an agonist. This means it doesn’t antagonize dopamine receptors in general, like current AP’s. What that means for us is waaaay less side effects, such as weight gain, akathisia, flat affect, decreased motivation, heavy sedation, etc.

Schizophrenia drug landscape: a stagnant field on the cusp of change?
This article states that phase 3 studies should be done around November of this year. Should be interesting to see when it actually releases for use.

Yes im looking forward to this drug being relessed as well. Planning to take it when it comes out. Im hoping the drug dosnt givd any negative symptoms like the current drugs do due to dopamine antagonism. Maybe everyone on disability will be able to go back to work after this drug is released.
On clinical trials.gov it says they have trials for this drug ending in 2023 2024 and one in 2025. So its possible the drug wont get released until 2026. Lets hope for the best though. We schizophrenics really need relief and im hiping this drug will provide it. But it might be a long time until this drug gets released unfortunately.

Ulorant

Three of the trials were updated for estimated completion date in early 2023. One USA trial updated to early 2024.
It looks like earliest possible approval 2024 or 2025.

Im wondering if this will be an almost 13 medications in one pill type drug. I’m wondering if this drug will go so far as to treat anhedonia in normal anhedonic people, I’m wondering if I would be able to build a career in my area of interest. I’m wondering if I won’t have to exercise everyday to be ok

They are making a version of Ulotaront called Ramilaront which would be for schizoaffective. I imagine when this drug is out though it would be affective for both

Wondering if Ulotaront acts more like intense physical exercise more than MDMA as it describes. I’ve strayed away from the topic because I’m pretty sure it’s wrong but just wondering if somehow…it is exercise in a pill and if it would ultimately work for normal anhedonic people.

When I think of meds I think of side effects. This med probably has side effects that’ll ■■■■ you up. Then you gotta live with more advanced side effects to ■■■■ you up.

They always make out it’s a super great med, when there just trying to make money.

I’m happy with my life, I’m used to my side affects. Not sure I wanna deal with new life changing side effects.

Dont put a lot of hope on this med

It might be another risperdal

Idk about you but newer meds like ziprasidone, abilify, brexpiprazole all have milder side effects compared to older meds and as effective as older meds like risperidone. At least it is how it had been for me

So if you don’t put any hope in newer treatments, you are just living a life without hope. From what I see newer treatments are better in a lot of cases such as car t cell therapy for cancer vs chemo but they are also a lot more expensive,

The reason it was given Breakthrough status is because it eliminates side effects.

I think this will be a good different medication. It dosnt antagonize receptors like all the other drugs do. So this is actually a different kind of drug. Im hoping it works so i can live a normal life again. I want an office job and be able to study. The meds im on have made me pretty much bedridden.
