Third day no sugar and all I can do is think about making scones

I need to lose some weight and my sister has advised me to give up sugar.

I’m a sweets person and a very good baker.

So I struggle with this a lot.

Sunday I gave it all up.

Now all I can think about is what I can bake with the ingredients I have.

I can make some awesome lemon rosemary scones, I can make brownies, cake or gourmet cookies.

Not only do I love to eat those things, but it fills my day when I make them and gives me a sense of accomplishment.

I suppose I could make something savory, but that’s not my specialty.

Maybe I can make cheese straws or crackers.

How do I get this sugar off my mind?

What do I replace my everyday baking with?

I’ve been making stuff and giving it to my neighbor,

But even she has complained of weight gain because of the treats and won’t take anymore.

No sugar sucks.

I am eating for longevity now. Having a gluten free diet sucks too due to coeliac issues.

I just live off huel protein shakes and their nutritionally complete snack bars out of convenience. gluten free bread is 3 times the price of normal bread.

This heavily weighted wheat based food economy sucks for coeliacs. Even my black pepper and herbs are contaminated with gluten and brings out a reaction. I live in a flat so growing anything is difficult so I just have shakes.

Luckily, I think the flavours are great and after 5 months of it, I still like them.

I have to do it out of necessity. Count your lucky stars you just have to do it for a few months.

there are better ways to diet without giving up sugar…try weight watchers…they have wonderful things to eat in moderation and it is a great way to lose weight…I just bought their cookbook a long time ago and ate only out of that and followed their daily portion rules and lost a lot of weight…good luck.

I harken it to an addiction, like giving up caffeine or nicotine. There can be physical withdrawals.

For myself it took a few weeks to get over that edge and start to adjust. I still have the odd craving for s’mores.

Sugar dealers always give the first taste free, then before I knew it I was sucking dick for a hit of the powdered stuff.

I quit sugar since January.

Start with eating fruits when you want sweets. It’s a start.

Actual sugar is the bad sugars.

Maintaining 25lbs weight loss and not missing sugar anymore.

@Charles_Foster and @Kxev You’ve inspired me to try cutting sugar from my diet again. I was able to successfully cut sugar from my diet for several months a couple of years ago. Then i ate a piece of cake and Boom! My sugar cravings were back full force and so was the sugar in my diet. :slightly_frowning_face:

I’m doing a no added sugar type of eating too. And there’s no pretending that it sucks. But I find a certain kind of happiness from it too. And overall, I do feel better in a weird way. I personally use figs. They are like the sweetest food and that helps.

I tried Keto and gave up sugar for one month when my brother visited after my first epsiode of breathing issues in the hospital. I lost 50 pounds in three weeks. He wouldnt let me get anything with sugar, not even orange juice. It drove me crazy. I ate mostly eggs, avacado but no bread–and fish but not heavy meat. Im going to do that again pretty much starting september first im doing full keto no sugar and only fish oh and

I need to add i was also walking around a lot more, not smoking cigarettes/clean sober and going to the gym twice a week and walkinv or cycling for 45 minutes than cooling off on the automatic massage chair to help ease muscle cramps it was a really effective quick weight loss after getting out of Hospital having been bed ridden. Im hopeful that was what did it–sure I got rid of extra water weight too but i lost 50 pounds so thats an accomplishment and in a matter of about 3 weeks to 2 months
