Think I am going to ask to start abilify rather than latuda

Am reducing the seroquel with the intention of stopping it. The original plan was to replace it with latuda. But just realised this is in the respiridone family of meds. I had an adverse event with respiridone - a dystonic crisis and had to go to hospital. I therefore don’t want to try latuda. Abilify it is then.

Latuda made zero difference for me at a fairly decent dosage.

Was on abilify at one stage early on in my illness. Can’t remember it much because I was very ill for the first four years after diagnosis. I remember I tolerated it well though.

What do you mean by dystonic crisis? I get a lot of dysonia from the meds but didn’t know it could become dangerous

I think aripiprazole wasn’t bad when I was on it - it did increase my anxiety and gave me some pretty bad akathisia though. Benzos helped with the former, and a bit with the latter. The two combined did also worsen my insomnia

I didn’t actually know we had latuda here

My crisis was my legs were so stiff I couldn’t walk. I also couldn’t bend over.

Abilify and Latuda are both activating so choose your poison.

Yeah that does sound pretty bad. Did they give you something when it happened or did you just have to wait it out? For some reason when I was put on tramadol I got something a little similar - I took my first dose then walked to the shop, and once I was on my way back it was like that. I couldn’t really walk. Took about 10 minutes to get to the shop and something like 30-45 to get back

They gave me an injection of procyclidine. Took me months to recover.

bejesus this post is spooky to me. I just started to go to mental heath center. I knew about a few of the side effects of some of the AP. but never knew some of the stuff here.

My reaction to respiridone was very rare.
