Think about this future of Mentall illness

More then 70 years ago, we had the patients with mental illness where they would receive lobotomy

less then 70 years ago, we had the experimental treatments and rise of bad medicine and therapies.

around 40 years ago, we had the new AP, and some early new therapies and the rise of UN conventions on the people with disability RIGHTS

Less then 30 years ago, new medicine and more therapies and more rights. much better ones

This new age, new better medicine, newer better therapies and more rights.

The illness never changed in the process maybe just with few differences

But we can tell the lobotomy patient is screwed for life.
we can say the patient with experimental treatments is screwed for life.
we can say a lot of things differ from patients in each of this ‘periods’.

i look at young people <20 who are mentally ill and they act different then me or my mid twenties peers with MI and so am i vs someone 40+ years or that someone vs 60+ years.

But the illness never changed. at it’s core it’s the same illness. the people view changed. the therapies and medicine changed. and each period leaves it’s mark on people in a way or another.

you an say it’s the age difference, it might be that too. I am just wondering what new therapies and treatments are out there now? so i can keep up with the times

Im not a keen follower of reading recent news but I think neuroplasticity is a new concept debated actively since around 2015. Basically theys argue if brain is not a hardware which never changes.

Maybe the use of psychedelics?

I don’t think psychedelics are related to neuroplasticity. What I read was…there were cases that a doctor healed himself who suffered from physical pains from an accident. He tried to vividly “visualize” something and as a result he rewired his brain synapses. Because visualization and pain, those brain areas are the same, so by visualizing, he didn’t give much resources to pain but made it to use its resources into visualizations.

what’s next is

so many illneses we can’t cure, storms, famine, drought, floods, shortages of food and water , rivers drying up, empty acidic oceans, desertification, deforestation, temperature extremes, breakdown of society, mass migrations and war

this will have a knock on effect on reliable medicine
we will probably suffer worse than an average alpha male with dogs will
who can fight
20 years away
50 years away

on a lighter note
A few months ago I heard there was a new med arriving fairly soon (all final tests now) which takes care of agitation that seems to go with schizophrenia… This has been a pretty huge one for me forevermore

If I can find out what it’s called I’ll probably take it when it’s ready
