I got asked if I could volunteer at the shelter with my partner’s little sister. I said ok then later on I find out my mother in law said they aren’t to the shelter because I might have a freak out while volunteering. She kept telling my partner I’m not trying to be mean but I think she just doesn’t want her younger daughter and her grandmother at the shelter because they have been pushing for another dog

I really wish you could have volunteered. It feels good to help out people and animals. I get the feeling you are a really kind person and you would have loved it.
I’m not in the situation and I don’t know everything but I can’t help but feeling your mother in law is really unfair to you. Is there anyone who could act as an intermediary between you and them? I hate the thought of you being voiceless in your own home.
