I just got home now and my Mum told me that she saw its tail going through a hole under our sink after she heard some noise coming from there, thinking it was the dustpan falling out. I’m gonna call the council on Monday and get it sorted. Til then, that hole will be taped and the sink door barricaded.
I suspected that there was a rat since I started hearing scuttling sounds coming from the ceiling. My Mum thought it was the wind or the boiler making noise but I was almost certain that it was the movement of a living creature.
Roof rats are common in the neighborhood where I live…probably because the houses on my street border on a wild hill side.
Roof rats typically find a route into the attic through a gap under the roof structure. They are a pain in the @$$ to get rid of and expensive too since the roof structure and vents need to be inspected and any rat entry points sealed off by an exterminator and then traps set in the attic to catch any rats that have nested in the attic.
Yes that’s a lot more effective than glue traps for sure. It is a little more expensive, but if you put that underneath the house in the crawl space. You shouldn’t see any rats or mice in about a week, probably less time than that really.
You don’t have use the whole bucket either. 6 or 7 pieces should do the trick. And that’s if you have an infestation
Plus you would save money from not having to buy the other junk on the market over time
I think we’re gonna go with the council on this one. I’ve checked on their website and apparently it’s free to deal with rats for homeowners. thanks though. I think poison is available in the uk via sites like Screwfix
Yeah, I’d definitely give it a try. It’s about 50 bucks for a small bucket of it. And you can always keep what you don’t use for next year. Hope this helps!
We don’t have rats in Interior Alasks very much but we get voles a lot. They basically look like small mice with tiny tails. I’ve seen them around my apartment building but never inside. My dog caught one once on a walk and killed it. We also get squirrels and marmots around here but they hide pretty well.
we have a mouse that somehow has figured out our traps…going to have to resort to a glue trap…that catches them and poisons them, but I fear it’s a slow death…I hope not.
I woke up one day and went into the bathroom to take a wash, but… the bar of soap wasn’t there. Strange, how could the soap be missing, I knew I hadn’t moved it. It turned out that a rat had made its home in one of my bathroom walls. Anyway, I caught it alive using a humane trap, and then released it near a river.
