The pineal gland releases melatonin and is responsible for sleep regulation. I don’t know about all that other stuff.

Last time I looked into chakras and reiki was when I was psychotic. It all seems a bit hocum to me along with crystal healing and astrology. I do like incense though and believe meditation works for the right people.

enlightment is also its effects

The third eye (also known as the inner eye) is a mystical and esoteric concept referring in part to the ajna (brow) chakra in certain Eastern and Western spiritual traditions. It is also spoken of as the gate that leads within to inner realms and spaces of higher consciousness. In New Age spirituality, the third eye may alternately symbolize a state of enlightenment or the evocation of mental images having deeply-personal spiritual or psychological significance. The third eye is often associated with visions, clairvoyance (which includes the ability to observe chakras and auras), precognition, and out-of-body experiences, and people who have allegedly developed the capacity to utilize their third eyes are sometimes known as seers.
In Hinduism and Buddhism, the third eye is a symbol of enlightenment (moksha and nirvana). In the Indian tradition, it is referred to as the gyananakashu, the eye of knowledge, which is the seat of the ‘teacher inside’ or antar-guru. The third eye is the ajna chakra (sixth chakra) also known as brow chakra or brow centre. This is commonly denoted in Indian and East Asian iconography with a dot, eye or mark on the forehead of deities or enlightened beings, such as Shiva, Buddha, or any number of yogis, sages and bodhisattvas. This symbol is called the “Third Eye” or “Eye of Wisdom,” or, in Buddhism, the urna. In Hinduism, it is believed that the opening of Shiva’s third eye causes the eventual destruction of the physical universe.

There’s also the brown eye

Retracted on the grounds that I was not being civil.

I say there is a imagination of third eye in forehead. But whether it helps in some mental. I applied it to me in just imagination but found nothing. Now I think having a third eye seems to telepathy or God is looking to you by his third eye.

Moved to Unusual Beliefs.

I know about this one. Some people think they are able to see when they have their eyes shut.
It is similar to having a hypnogogic hallucination but the person is fully awake.
They often think they have special powers and it is a give from the gods.
The pineal gland is in the brain and converts serotonin into melatonin which promotes sleep at night time.

I see a third eye on people on occasion, but I don’t find it particularly disturbing because it is just a copy of one of their normal eyes. It’s a weird brain glitch.

I thought when you can still see out of our closed eyes (at night too) that it was just the “Government” hokum going on.
I had this for awhile, but I’d never say it to anyone else…until now.

I had my third eye open during my psychosis…or so I thought I did. I could see auras and predict the future and could read minds. There’s still lingering beliefs that’s it’s there but the meds are too sedating for it to work properly. I do believe in the chakras/meditation but I thought I needed more training before it could be opened.

Sorry for the necro but figured it’s better to bring back a thread then to create one.

Hi @JerryBoyle. Typically, we like to leave inactive threads alone and just start a new thread instead. This is different than how some forums are run, but we do it this way because it frequently upsets users to have old topics revived when they are no longer relevant. It can also be frustrating to the person who revived the thread when they don’t get a reply, because the original poster is no longer active or no longer finds the topic relevant.

Additionally, we don’t allow religious discussions on this site. This for a couple of reasons. First, it tends to cause arguments, because for some reason people can’t seem to just respect each other’s different religious beliefs. Second, many folks suffer from religious delusions. It is one of the top three topics of delusion, alongside aliens and government conspiracies. We don’t allow discussions on those topics, either. Third, there are many members here who were subjected to exorcisms by family members who, sadly, did not understand their illness. Those memories can be very traumatic for those individuals, and they don’t need to be reminded of them.

I hope you can understand, and help keep this a safe place for everyone.

Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:
