It’s an over exaggeration and underplays the underlying want behind it: reduce suffering by not giving birth to children when conditions are already unfavorable.
The idea that life would somehow go extinct from this is ludicrous and short sighted. Especially considering that the population is increasing.
It’s like some are blissfully unaware that the earth is already limited in its space. And when prisons get fuller, poverty gets worse, the temperature is rising, and streets are crowded, clearly we have to be more thoughtful.
And is the consideration of not giving birth willy-nilly on a whim not thoughtful?

I’m glad I only had one child. I wouldn’t want my children to have to live in such a sick place. They’re probably only safe if you’re lucky enough to be wealthy. I think the people who don’t want you to reproduce, are in for a rude awakening, because these people, lying about everyone and making everyone miserable, are probably not the ones who should have reproduced, but a lot of sick people think they should be playing God.
I’m gonna work a farm and have twenty children and they’re all gonna work the farm and make me rich, then one of them’s gonna make it big in Hollywood! Who will be paying the bills then? Hollywood kid, that’s who!
I’m so glad I only had one child too.
