The Occult

It still has a strong psychological grip on my mind.

Earlier this morning I requested a book at the local bookstore about magick.

However when it comes in I doubt I’ll pick it up.

A few minutes ago I watched a trailer to a film that looks super triggering, “A Dark Song.”

How do I break free from the Occult and Magick?

Am I a masochist? I just don’t understand why I am so drawn to all this stuff.

Thank you for reading,

If it’s bad for you, and you find it feeds into your delusions, stay away!!

Personally, I enjoy learning more about the occult. It makes me feel safer for some reason. I was also raised surrounded by magick though.

It’s not a bad thing to read up on it. Unless it really scares you!! Don’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable or feel unsafe.

Are you having a tough day today? Have a virtual hug :hugs:

How I think about an interest to the occult is just like an interest to trains or something. If somebodies interested in it, they can always learn more about it, and if it’s their passion, they should make a career out of it!

However a lot of people are sensitive towards this topic. I think it really does depend on your upbringing.

Usually people raised around religion are more afraid of ‘punishment’ or whatever else.

I was raised by a witch, so it’s all a walk in the park for me.

Yeah I understand what you mean in regards to being raised in magick vs. a more religious upbringing.

My parents divorced when I was very young and I lived with my mother.

She is a great and strong woman, and she is very religious.

So that might be where a lot of my guilt is coming from. (Fear of damnation/punishment etc.)

Yes, rough night, can’t complain about the day though.

Thank you for the hug :hugs: . :v:

I’m sorry, man.

I feel like you breaking away from the occult is like me breaking away from my religion,

Its difficult and its gonna take time.

You actively have to say no to that kind of thinking and after a while it’ll get easier.

Not to get on your case,

But listening to Coast to Coast isn’t helping.

Thank you for helping and caring @GoldenRex.

I think you’re probably right about Coast to Coast.

I don’t listen to it every night.

But yeah. Some episodes of that show can send the sanest person down ‘the rabbit hole.’ LOL.

Take care, and thank you for telling me it will get easier with time.

YES!

I forgot,

Very, very exciting!

You could be feeling bad tonight because of nerves,

Think so?

Regardless, sorry you’re having a rough night.

It really does get easier,

You just have to work at changing the way you think and avoid feeding the delusions with more information.

I have to do the same thing.

Oh it’s okay. I feel better now that I got some good advice from you all.

Yes, I think it could be stress and nerves about school.

And I hear ya about not feeding the delusions anymore information.

Thank you.

I have a very limited knowledge of Magick, from the Golden Dawn/Crowley point of view. I bought some books by Crowley and tried to get into them, but i just wasn’t that into it.
I think his Magick used a lot of references to what some call Pagan gods and the occult. But it seemed that his Magick was more ritual, archetypes, allegory and symbolism. These were used in an attempt to focus the will and cause events to occur in conformity with his will. I think the occult thing was more of an abstract than any weird religious thing. It was simply a method to focus on whatever task you want to accomplish and get it done.
You can say everything you do in life is Magick. Or art. There are many ways to describe your way of seeing things without getting too caught up in it and any hidden implications.
I hope this helps. Maybe you should stay away from stuff that gets too intense for you to handle. But I don’t think you should ever beat yourself up too much over stuff like this either.
Wish you the best @Montezuma. Keep jamming those tunes, just stick to what’s comfortable!

I dabble in the occult.

Some things weird me out but occult stuff isn’t one of them. I can see the attraction and I can see where it can be problematic for those with schizophrenia. I guess it’s a lot about moderation. If it’s triggering you and making you feel worse then it’s something you don’t want to deal with!

It’s good you can recognize your triggers. That is a great thing in the scheme of things. Take it easy and just move onto other things. I always found a positive thing is a good replacement to something negative in your life! I like to drink beer. That isn’t so good for me so instead of a beer I’ll replace it with some exercise! That helps no end!

My voices talk a lot about occult stuff and some of it makes sense. Just balance it out with Buddhism and you’ll be fine.
