The lesson for today is:

In the 1960’s the hippies motto was: “Never trust anyone over 30”. Their enemy was “the man”, “the establishment”.

Lots of hippies went on to have successful careers as businessmen or stock brokers or other professional careers as the 1970’s came around.

Irony? Hypocrisy? Dashed idyllic dreams?

nice try, but the hippies told me to not trust this thread. :stuck_out_tongue:

oh wait, if a 30+ man said that the hippies said to not trust anyone over 30–

oh gosh, my head’s going to blow up. :confounded:

Think I post on this on one of your post when I first joined was on John Lennon’s story.

It’s whole free love era what a joke that was. Was still full of woman bashing and child abuse. Just a total power trip for the leaders. As bad as though women libs who blame everything on men. Totally screw up their sons and berate there sons for not being being better men and wonder why they are turned into serial killers and rapists.

Some way I feel I am true flower child left over from the 60’s. Dad served in Vietnam. Only advantage from the 60’s is most of the therapists now in there 70’s still tend to pass on that give it to the man onto there clients. Just less naïve. I tend to agree with that then those new age therapist that think they can fix everything by just being nice to the person that’s treating you like ■■■■ and getting off on it.

Well yes. When it comes to the 60’s I agreed with with one writer who’s opinion was that the “free love” era benefited the men way more than the women. One problem was that lots of men used the women and they were more than happy when marijuana-fogged women would have sex with a lot of men at the drop of a hat.

A woman on here re-butted me by saying that I was in error because the 1960’s taught women to not be ashamed of their sexuality so the women won out too in that regard.

I guess it’s a matter of opinion or maybe we were both right.

Oddly in the 70’s the famous book “Looking After #1” came out, first thing I thought of in your description of the 60’s

Oh and also I went from age 4 to 13, then the trouble started lol

Was a confronting era still rather naïve in a lot cases.

Moral of the story: definitely don’t do drugs
