Mariah Carey has a history of cruel behavior. Though it is nice to see celebrities finally coming forward with honesty about their diagnosis, I don’t feel it’s helping our community as a whole. She’s been awful to her own staff and fans since the early 90s. I sympathize with her struggle as we all can. It is still not an excuse for her actions. 30 years of bad behavior is now viewed by the public as “bipolar disorder”. This is a very self serving article not a talk about mental health.
Oh no poor millionaire! How will you deal with this horrible disorder that has destroyed your life?
Maybe go to your mansion and eat some lobster, that would cheer me up. Then you can buy a few ferraris.

Brenda’s career was taking off with the release of her single I Still Believe. At about that time, Mariah asked Brenda to give her demo tape to Sony Music producer Tommy Mottola. And it was also at about that time Mariah started dating Mottola (she would marry him in 1993).
If that wasn’t bad enough, soon after Mariah started dating Mottola, Sony Music parted ways with Brenda.
I learned most of that way after the fact.
Here’s Mariah with Brenda K Starr:
