Over the phone I was introduced to someone named Michelle. Much to my surprise “she” had a deep, masculine voice. He had a foreign accent which peeked my interest as my father was a foreigner. But not before I blurted out in disbelief “You’re Michelle?” I was too excited to be embarrassed. I’ve been starving for a little male attention and he wasn’t with a wife. So, go figure…These are my Bahai friends.

Oh. I see Michel is a spelling in its own right. Thank you. I was told about the French Michael by a spoken voice so I didn’t know.

Michel is male, Michelle is female.

Correct. Michael is the anglicized version of Michel. French speakers will pronounce it as Michel (sounds like Michelle to anglophones).
