The famous dueling banjos scene from the 1972 thriller Deliverance

Fun fact:

I grew up in one of the towns they filmed Deliverance in.

That kid playing the banjo used to do tours in the area.

It’s a beautiful place,

But there are some real strange people crawling around that mountain.

I dont enjoy this film.
Or straw dogs anyone seen that one?

I like both films.

Deliverance is superior by far,

But the original Straw Dogs was good stuff.

I think I appreciate it more having lived where I did.

Just a question from a British person - was Deliverance filmed in South Virginia? Or Virginia on a whole? I heard that is the poorest part of the states?

You are thinking of West Virginia and no it was not filmed there.

Its pretty poor but also rural. Some city ghettoes are worse probably.

I just watched the scene again and noticed something hilarious.

2 actors are smoking RIGHT NEXT to the gas pumps.

Wow.

Yep!

A friend of mine said that scene ruined Ned Beatty’s career. Idk. Maybe and maybe not.

The author of the book DELIVERANCE came to my house right before my first psychotic episode. His name is James Dickey and he was a friend of my mom’s.
