The continuing saga of my new dentist. Is two days considered a saga?

So I got to my new dentist yesterday. She takes Medi-Cal so she wasn’t very good. In fact she hurt me several times and didn’t seem as competent as I’m used to. Today was my second appointment. I didn’t want to go but I figured I’ll save $250 and put up with her drilling my nerve. I get in there and the first thing that the dental assistant asks is, “Are you ready for your extraction?” I said, “What extraction?” No one told me about an extraction. The girl was a little surprised and said the dentist wanted to extract a tooth but didn’t tell me yesterday. Seemed unprofessional but “oh well”. The girl said I could have it done another day.

Then she tells me they’re doing two fillings today instead of just one. Another surprise. So she leaves and I sit there 20 minutes waiting. She comes back in and says,“Can we do these fillings without novocaine?” I was surprised and I said no. She says they didn’t open a box so they have no novocaine and if I wanted novocaine I would have to reschedule for another time. She asked me what I wanted to do and when I said I’ll wait for the novocaine and come back another day I could tell I surprised her. She expected me to have it done without novocaine. Anyways, the doc comes in and says she can fill the two cavities without drilling. I never heard of that before but I said OK and it turns out she filled three cavities. Fine. Now I need that tooth extracted but after all this I’m wondering if she knows what she’s doing.

She sounds sketchy @77nick77.
My dentist takes Denti-Cal, but he’s really good. Never had a problem with him, as a matter of fact he’s probably the best dentist I’ve ever worked with.

I’ve been surprised by procedures before and I would really like to know if that is standard practice. It seems borderline illegal to me. It also seems that they wouldn’t do it to other people.
