The co-occurrence of autistic spectrum disorder and schizophrenia: A nationwide population-based study

Funny, just a minute ago I was reading a study that said autistic people tend to be diagnosed with psychotic disorder-NOS more than schizophrenia

Yes,that was posted here a couple of years ago. I’d say psychosis with ASD is under diagnosed. It took 46 years from 1st seeing a psychiatrist for me to get an ASD dx.

That’s rough… I’ve had sza symptoms since I was 7, wasn’t dxed with ASD until I was 23, dxed with sza at 26. I’ve been seeing a therapist since I was 18.

I also have a bunch of things I’ve been misdiagnosed with, I mean I have symptoms of those disorders, I have symptoms of a lot of disorders and it sucks but at least not enough to meet criteria for most. Autism sza ocd and cptsd.

Being as fair minded as I can it took 27 years from when Asperger’s was an official dx for me to be given that dx. That’s still a long time.

Indeed, given my experience with professionals a lot of them don’t keep up to date with things like they probably should. My abnormal psych professor holds some outdated views.

Like me: though they still suspect SZ

Yeah I have sza and autism too

This makes me want to seek out testing for an autism dx even more. Because everyone seems to say it’s ■■■■■■■ obvious I have autism

Have you taken the autism quotient? if you google it it’s easy to find, pretty short, and fairly reliable if you can answer honestly. I have taken it several times throughout the years and always get a score of 42-43.

I’ll check it out. I didn’t know that existed :o

I got a 36, according to the first link on Google, which is for psychology-tools.com

That’s significant. You could bring that up if you ever want to seek a diagnosis
