Today I completed reading Elyn Sakss’ book the center cannot hold. It was a great experience to flip the pages of her life and see a somewhat similar experience of mine written by a successful person, very succesful indeed. I recommend reading it strongly. Happy I did.
Thanks for the review. I’ve seen this book recommended many times so I have ordered it to read. I’ve read some RD Laing but it is a bit dated these days and I read Henry’s Demons which was also interesting.
I read the book also @Sparso, I enjoyed it very much
See her live:
Her book changed my life. It is a powerful book. I went from binge drinker, stimulant abuser, class-cutter to something completely different. I’m on a slew of sedating medications! Now I drink coffee and weightlifting stimulants as they should be used.
And I have a 3.8 and am in two honors programs and have lifted over 500lbs since I read the book. I’m working on a thesis in psychology on psychotherapy, which is ironic.
I am thinking of applying to psychoanalytic science PhD programs. I have a passion for the roots of psychology, and I have always wanted to be psychoanalyzed. Otherwise I will just apply to clinical PhD programs.
