John Hinkley, the man who shot Reagan, had his psychiatrist tell his family to give him $100 and turn him loose to fend for himself on the street. We know how that worked out. That might have worked for me right up until the time they started giving me major tranquilizers, because those drugs ruin my ability to stand up to the weather, and those are the only type of jobs that I am good at. Instead they put me in a private mental hospital, and however well meant it was, it did more harm than good because I was once again institutionalized when I had been in one kind of institution or another all my life. Maybe I could benefit from a private mental hospital now, I don’t know. Probably not. It’s not in the picture anyway.
