Do you guys know anything about potential very temporary or as needed antipsychotics? Is there such a thing you could take on a particularly bad day but not on others? I am seeing a doctor tomorrow and I want to ask about this

I was on Haldol daily long term but I know some people use it short term or as needed in addition to their regular AP

Unfortunately I do not know of anything like this, potentially I could see it being a thing if between injections you needed something near the end? I dunno if that’s honestly a thing tho, but it wouldn’t surprise me.

Im thinking more to take on its own as needed so I dont have to be on meds for a long period of time

My pdoc never minds when I tell her I have doubled up on a few occasions since we last spoke. I’ve told those people everything. I told them I get so angry I have to knock myself out. But I have a new pdoc now and haven’t needed a prn. I was thinking about making a thread about getting angry when psychotic. I am less angry now and crazier than ever.

For the past year, I have used haldol as needed. For me, it works almost immediately. I could easily use it for a day or so.

Doc had given me asenapine years ago to be taken as PRN.

Thank you all for the feedback, Ive ended up with olanzipine which I can either take regular or as needed, Im going to use it as needed for now. I am also going to therapy twice a week now, so hopefully things will start improving instead of declining
