Temporarily up my dose to get rid of symptoms?

I’m on 74mg Latuda and 50mg Seroquel.

I’ve been having psychotic thoughts, as my pnurse calls them, for the past 2-3 days.

I’m really desperate to have them go away. Normally sleep helps, but it didn’t this time.

I have some 37mg Latuda pills, would it be alright for me to take those with the 74 for one day to fix my brain?

I temporarily took an extra 2mg of risperidone for four days without my pdocs admission. It did nothing for the whispers becuase it usually takes three weeks to work. So I’m not sure if it will work on the voices but it might work on your thoughts, not sure though

I usually take a bit more of haldol if i feel bad. It works right away. My nurse and i discussed it though and she is okay with it.

I would speak with some professional to see if ig is okay.

Ask your pnurse.

It’s sunday night, I won’t be able to reach her for another 12 hours or so, and I start my apprenticeship tomorrow so I need to be in tip-top shape mentally

Isnt there some sort of crisisline you can discuss it with? I called the crisis line before to discuss this.

No?

Latuda isnt a PRN med.

Ask your pdoc for some haldol or something, or ask for a script for benzos.

Pdocs here don’t like to prescribe benzos unless they’re absolutely necessary.

The doctor at the hospital told me I could take a small dose latuda as PRN

If the hospital doc said it was fine then it’s probably fine.

I’ve never heard that before, but if pdoc says it’s okay then go for it.

Did you end up taking more latuda? Does it help?

You really don’t know how an extra dose is going to affect you. It could possibly help but the odds are just as good that it could cause trouble of it’s own. I’ve never taken Latuda (I don’t even like that name for some reason) but it was a huge mistake when I took an extra 5 mgs of prolixen on my own. It was horrible. And when I accidentally doubled up on my risperidone about 4 years ago, I thought I would end up in the psyche ward. IDK what else to tell you. I wouldn’t risk it, but that’s just my opinion. How about taking a Benadryl or some other OTC sleep aid? But then you would have to find out before you take it how it would interact with your AP’s or any other vitamin or medication you take.

There’s no way to reach your doc?

Can you do stuff to relax you and calm yourself down without an extra dose? Maybe take a relaxing bath. A hot bath can help you sleep. Maybe someone could take you out for a drive until you feel sleepy? Or listen to soothing music? Maybe get in your pajamas and have a cup of hot chocolate on the couch with dimmed lights? A warm drink sure makes me drowsy.

What does she consider a small dose? One of those 37mg pills is half of what you usually take. That seems to be more than “a little”.
I don’t want to steer you wrong, these are just my thoughts.

Yes. That is what I would do.

Half of a 37mg pill.

I ended up taking it, and it seems to have had yhe desired effect, although my jaw is tensing up
