okay, I must have misremembered or something, like I said I didn’t do a lot of reading about it. I just remember something to do with opioid .
Yeah it blocks opioids activity
You can’t take opioids while on Lybalvi
There is a serious interaction between them.
i read that samidorphan is very similar to naltrexone.
saw this study that says naltrexone also attenuates olanzapine induced weight gain
Hi there! I also take Zyprexa and experienced some weight gain, but I am also waiting for the new medication mentioned. I forgot how to spell it. “Ly…” I also was wondering if anyone has tried Metformin to counteract weight gain. I was reading about it a few days ago. Thanks so much and good luck! Peace!

Hello @Annie_Autopsy Welcome to the forums! ![]()
I was on Zyprexa (40mg) for 17 years and it caused me to balloon up to 240lbs and the weight gain led me to develop diabetes. I have been on 2000mg of metformin a day because I am diabetic and it didn’t help me lose any weight at all. That doesn’t mean it won’t work for you but it was useless for me. It did help me control my blood sugar levels though.
It was useless for me too, no weight loss eventhough Dr said its for weight loss.
240 lbs are rookie numbers, i weighed 240 my second time on olanzapine, after i went on and off it a 3rd time after losing all the weight on geodon i went from 180 to 355 in like a year back on it, now im on it again after going from 355 to 300 on invega but im not gaining much this time as its not of a big of a difference. i think the reason i skyrocketed so much when i weighed 180 is because i barely ate at thst weight, i counted calories pretty extremely and ate less than 1200 which is low for my 6’ frame, then when i went on it i pretty much binge ate every day for months
I guess I am a rookie, lol That is insane! I’m 5’8 so my 240lbs was a lot for me. According to the BMI I should be no more than 164lbs. I currently fluctuate between 158 and 160 so I am good now. But I have been off olanzapine for almost 5 months and have lost a lot of weight.
I heard that Naltrexone does a better job with olanzapine induced weight gain than samidorphan.
I also read that Lybalvi is still a weight gaining med, it’s just a bit better that olanzapine by itself.
I have tried meta formin to counteract weight gain from risperidone it didn’t work
