PARIS (Reuters) - Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo finally swam in the river Seine on Wednesday, fulfilling a promise to try to convince doubters that its waters will be clean enough to hold Olympic swimming events.

My niece is letting me use her peacock account to watch. I’m such a skateboarding fan boy! And I’m super stoked about break dancing getting to be an event! Both are freestyle gymnastics in their own right.

I am looking forward to the Opening Ceremony and seeing all the Olympic fashion :star_struck:

Also looking forward to swimming, surfing, and all the other sports! :medal_sports:

Probably gonna sign up for Peacock Streaming just to watch the Olympics, but I think it’s gonna be worth it.

Somewhat related to the Olympics, I’m watching The Open (golf) – it’s being played in Scotland. I see many of the golfers are bundled up, some even wearing beanies. Is it always that cold there in mid-July? @el_Jimbobbio I’m about to move there lol

Haha!

Tbh Scotland is slightly unseasonably cold right now. In fact London in the south is dramatically warmer than us right now.

I am loving it - hate hot days

same here man. I’m already looking forward to autumn around these parts lol. Today wasn’t bad, it was 79F, 26C. But I love temps much cooler than that

26C is a hot day for Scotland. Rarely gets above that here

Two days until the opening seremony, but some events have already started, like soccer and rugby.

I’m not sure how it is with these events, maybe the best players are not in it? At least not in soccer it would appear.

I remember looking at the Olympics in a mental hospital in Tenerife in the year 2000, first breakdown 4 me , sad times 4 me

Soccer rosters are formatted in a U23 format. I believe each team is allowed 2-3 players older than that, but yeah, a lot of stars not playing in these Olympics. Not sure why soccer is the only sport where they have a roster regulated to U23 players.

I don’t know, the only thing I can think of is the regular players are spent after the Euros, and need to get ready for their club as the leagues start up in mid august.

Womens handball starts today. Norway - Sweden will be playing. I enjoy this sport, and it’s one of the events where Norway has a chance at medal. :volleyball::tada:
