What’s the worst you’ve heard? Today i heard ‘psychosis is part of the human condition, not an illness’ made me really flipping angry
That mental illness is a choice.
That’s despicable.
Its all in your head.
I heard some people saying that you can’t tell who is crazy and who is talking on their cell phones. I don’t like people laughing about mental illness or calling other people crazy. Now my kids are starting to say “crazy” for everything. I try to discourage it.
I take offence to the word ‘crazy’ - i don’t voice my opinions on this because i know it isn’t a commonly held viewpoint, but it still bugs me
I always hear “you seem normal”
And then later on I hear “wtf is wrong with you?”
Last night I hung out with some girls. One of them said their old roommate was on ‘psycho pills’. she found out the pill names and texted her cousin who’s a pharmacist to find out what they were.
She said they were ‘the type of pills that somebody ■■■■■■ in the head would take to keep them from hurting others’ the pills for ‘someone who can’t control their emotions’
I just thought about how she would feel if she knew what pills I was on, I’ve been on anti psychotics since I was young… I think her roommate just had mild anxiety. What would she feel about my psychosis?
The whole interaction made me feel sick.
I’m sorry that happened to you @valiumprincess Some people are just mentally sick and mentally healthy. It sounds as if they took the view point of controlling one’s emotions is a personal choice and they have no real frame of reference of what mental illness is actually like. They are sick in the head if they are talking that way (fucked in the head) about someone who is suffering constantly every day. They have no respect.
No one is normal
Just snap out of it
There’s a fine line between genius and insanity
my brother routinely calls me crazy but hes not neurotypical either…they’ve said bipolar but im pretty sure borderline, but im not a doctor so w/e (he literally ticks the box for every symptom of BPD and its severe and he hasnt been assessed since he was like 13). he seems to think hes higher functioning than me because he can hold down a job, but only for about a month at a time. as far as real neurotypicals, im sure ive heard some horrible stuff said about the mentally ill over the years but one thing my dad has always said that i find offensive is that i just need to “get out more” and it would go away. he’s kind of cooled down with that rhetoric recently and accepted that im just (my computer just did the weirdest shit and the monitor died for no reason) not every going to be “normal”
One time there was a guy in my abnormal psychology class that said “we should just kill anyone with a dangerous mental illness because theyre the reason they are so many rapes murders and other crimes”
The majority of the class busted out laughing. We were on a segment about schizophrenia. I left class after that I was so scared.
the genius and insanity line gets me every time… it’s not a fine line its a huge chasm
“You can’t be mentally ill, you have a home.
My response to, “Psychosis is part of the human condition, not an illness” is “Be careful what you wish for…”
Someone once asked me ‘so did you get over your SzA yet?’ I was on the psych ward when she asked this.
:trigger alert:
About the “Kill everyone w/a mental illness” scribe, I would respond, “You and Hitler would have a lot in common.” I found out recently that the gassing used to kill the Jews were first tried on people living in insane asylums. There’s a difference between crazy and mean.
People say that about (insert minority group here) but I have government statistics that proves it’s not actually the minorities doing this stuff…
Crazy people dont know they’re crazy.
This one pisses me off.
Or similarly “if you think your crazy your not” no bitch, wanting to kill someone because they are chewing isn’t normal, and having voices saying I’m satan isn’t normal, and not being able to read a ■■■■■■■ book or talk a lot of the time isn’t normal, and I know that, and I know this ■■■■ makes me by definition, Crazy.
