Study finds cannabis plant could hold key to improving negative symptoms of schizophrenia

Researchers at the Illawarra Health and Medical Research Institute (IHMRI) have been investigating what effect Cannabidiol has on the mental illness.

Cognitive and negative symptoms of schizophrenia include social withdrawal and blunted emotional expression.

Using a rodent model of schizophrenia, the research team found cannabidiol was able to restore recognition, working memory and social behaviour

Ms Osborne said more research was needed before clinical trials could begin.

If it does work and help I wish they would bring out CBD medications already.

Makes me paranoid thinking about this

Don’t be paranoid. This was using pure CBD without any THC, so maybe it should be fine. But I know what you mean, THC cannabis freaks me out too.

Here’s a different link about it. It has a little bit more information on it.

I think a lot of people are going to be upset when they realize this is going to be a straight medication with no ‘buzz’.

Exactly @shutterbug. The pure CBD will disappoint the hippie crowd. Lol

Even the CBD oils you can buy today have small amounts of THC. Pharmaceutical grade CBD should have zero THC. I am so sensitive to THC that even the smallest amounts I can feel.

There’s a newer cannabinoid called CBG. It’s been known for quite some time, but it’s gaining more popularity and companies are adding CBG with CBD together.

Thanks @everhopeful for posting the link to Echo pharmaceuticals.
