Spoke to my nurse - hoping to change from depot to oral

The injections are starting to hurt. I’ve had so many I must have scar tissue now. Compliance isn’t a problem. She doesn’t think it should be a problem.

I think they trust you to be compliant until given a reason not to. I switched from a depot to oral Abilify in May so it has been about a month.

Make sure to have additional appointments during your transition, while your body adjusts to the difference!

Good idea @Ninjastar. My nurse said it will be a little bit or trial and error until we find the right oral dose - so will check in with the community team regular during the transition.

I’ve been non-compliant with oral meds 2 or 3 times now but I’ve been on the depot and (supposedly) been taking a pill of risperdal daily for about 3 years now. I want to go back to only oral administration but I’m scared to ask because I’m scared of the answer. Someday I will ask though.

Good luck Bomb on. I switched from injections to pills and I’ve liked it much better so far. Haven’t forgotten my meds once. The trick is to follow through with the prescription plan.

Yeah I keep a weekly medicine box so I can easily tell if I have missed my meds.

That’s a very good idea. I was on injections for years. I feel less sedated on pills. I’m sure you’ll feel better. Sometimes the injections would be painful. No more of that.

Yeah my butt feels a bit like a pincushion so it will be a relief to go on tablets. Plus I always get students doing my jags so they aren’t as experienced and it hurts more.

Haha. I hated when it’d go too deep and leave me sore for a couple of weeks. Ouch.

That’s the thing. The jag needs to go into muscle so like you say it can be deep!

Yeah it would be embarrassing when I’d have a sore butt and I’d sit down in public. Making grunts and gasps.
