The injections have really hurt these last few weeks. I have developed scar tissue at my injection sites.
Want to change to the oral form. Compliance has never been a problem and I take my meds always on schedule.
But probably most of all I don’t like my nurse who does the injection. She never returns my calls and always slags off people to me which makes me wonder what she says about me to other people. Going on tablets would let me keep her at an arms length.
Yeah, but I was very ill then and had a lot of side effects from other meds. Plus they had me on a maximum dose which really made me restless.
I am in a much better place now and feel equipped with coping strategies to handle the transfer. And at the end of the day if the oral form doesn’t work I can always go back on the depot.
Shouldn’t hurt too much but I get mine in the top of the buttocks. Being getting them there for years and I think the area is suffering from so many injections. Last time was reall, really sore.
I hope it goes works out for you. I wish I could go off the Aristada (aripiprazole) shot and go back on oral Abilify, but I have no insurance and, unlike oral Abilify, the drug reps for Aristada still give free samples to the clinic. It’s not because of the shot hurting, just that I think I did better on the oral form. That’s even though I was taking only 15 mg, and the shot I’m getting is supposed to be equivalent to taking 20 mg/day of oral aripiprazole.
The shot has to be intramuscular rather than intravenous, and if it’s a large amount of fluid it has to be injected into a large muscle, like the gluteals.
Left a message with my nurse. She said she would phone me back in 20 minutes. That was 5 hours ago. This is the 7th time in a row she has not returned my call. She is a bitch.
