Specialists contradicting hospital diagnosis of schizophrenia

I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia by the hospital in late 2010. The previous clinical psychologist I seen and the current one say they don’t think I have schizophrenia because I have had no symptoms for 4 and half years except for the odd night terror. But that I should keep taking my meds. They think I had a sleep disorder as I had regular extreme night terrors which coincided with delusions at night time. I’m feeling confused and finding it hard to motivate myself to take meds when I have been told by them that they don’t think I have it. Has anyone else been through this?

If you’re gonna stop taking your meds make sure to do it under the supervision and guidance of a doctor.

If your symptoms return they’ll be ready for it.

It sounds like things have gone into remission for you. That does not mean the illness has left.

I hope for your sake though your brain has sorted itself out.

Take care. Be safe and watchful.

Your post makes sense. Remembering back now, I don’t want to go through that again, seems too risky. I wish these psychologists wouldn’t put doubt in my mind that they think I don’t have it tho.
