A trans-abled person is someone who wishes they had a particular disability, and, as much as possible, lives their life as if they actually had that disability. This could mean using a wheelchair whilst being capable of walking, not using a limb that feels alien or any other number of variations. Often individuals will think of self-harm or actually attempt it in the hopes of bringing about the desired disability and some trans-abled people seek surgery from professionals.
Those who see themselves as trans-abled believe they have the right to live as if they had the disability they want. This is viewed as their right to personal freedom which doesn’t harm anyone else. They also point to the condition of Body Integrity Identity Disorder (BIID) – described as a psychological condition where an individual would feel happier e.g. living as an amputee – as a reason for their condition.
I don’t have their backs on this one. This needs a physiological explanation. I can’t defend wanting to be disabled. I just don’t have their backs. Gender dysphoria has been associated with neurological issues. Wanting to be an amputee or what schizophrenic just wtf stick with a normal mental disorder.
I mean the idea should not be “oh let’s cut off his perfectly fine leg” it should be “let’s put the screws back up in his head and find the marbles he lost”. Jesus ■■■■■■■ Christ.
No I do not support amputation or letting someone pretend they’re paralyzed. They need intense therapy not an operation. Gender dysphoria and transgender operations are different. They don’t want to denigrate themselves, which is the key distinction. Trans people just feel like they ought to be male when they’re female, or vice versa, and I bet it’s due to a physiological abnormality just like our schizophrenia is.
Can we not say the same thing about perfectly good genitals? If you are obviously male and think you should be female, you’re delusional. Just like if you think you’re Napolean when you’re not.
Sorry to those I offend, but I don’t think that surgically mutilating someone who is seriously ill is the right answer.
I think it is a bit more complicated. These people do not think they actually have female organs when they do not - such would be the proper analogy to thinking you are napoleon while you are not.
Instead, they identify with a gender role that does not match up to the commonly associated sex. I do not think this in itself is enough to call people delusional, note that such has been the motor for female emancipation where women did not want to identify with the role that was traditionally associated with their sex.
On top of that, these people have a desire to have sex and gender matched up according to traditional norms - female gender role with female sex organs. This in itself is not delusional either, for it is the norm most people would subscribe to if you would ask them. If so, the ‘problem’ is either with the sex or the atypical gender identification. It seems to me that if you dub the latter delusional you shut the door for any type of future emancipation. Which seems to be a high price to pay.
I would like to state for the record that I am a billionaire trapped in a pauper’s body. This obviously causes me unneeded distress and I expect society to mitigate my symptoms by providing me with the required resources to comport myself in accordance with the identity I was actually born with.
Well, I’m Canadian and I’d have to say that my fiscal identification role is my birthright. I’m the victim here. When you are all going to set about rectifying things for me?
