hi, hi
in fact this subject starts to concern me. I am 34 years old, 8 months on Zyprexa and I dont have my periods anymore. is it possible to have children besides that fact? I guess it will be tough? how was it for you ladies? I didn’t thought about that in the past but now I see that it is a problem…
My pdoc suggested that for me to have children, I would have to change to another medication that doesn’t interfere with prolactin.
The thing about having kids though, with a mental illness, it’s not only the medication involved, but the emotional stability to have them. It’s a tough decision, and, for me anyway, it’s a decision I postponed until I have a stable relationship, if I ever have one. We should be able to provide a stable environment for our children.
I know Minnie but its a natural desire too. ill see this in the future. but its problematic. I am stable only on Zyprexa…
Some of the wealthiest and healthiest people are the worst parents
Some of the most interesting kids in our town had deaf mothers
If they’re bad parents, they must not be that healthy. There are a ton of unhealthy behaviors that are not categorized into pathology.
It’s a terrible thing what society does to mothers
To be perfect
They end up never living up
And asking too much out of their kids
Daze, you’re a great mom. No one is trying to say any differently. You have raised some awesome kids.
It is still true that the decision to have kids is an important one, and there are extra things to take into account for us. And yes, some of the worst parents I’ve met have no diagnosed mental illness, and some of the best parents do. There are lots of factors to consider before deciding to have kids.
@Anna1 Are u getting married…???
Yes it is possible to get pregnant even if you haven’t been having regular periods. Remember that emaciated women in third world countries who have lost their periods due to severe malnutrition, even they still get pregnant. The most important reason to be aware of this is that you don’t want to have sex without any form of birth control (condom, pill, injection, etc) if you are not ready to have children, even if you’ve been missing your period. Stay safe.
I am not ready for children but today I felt some form of need from this. cause finally, why not for me?
@far_cry0, I am far from getting married no, wow…
I even dont have a partner. but I think that nobody can forbid me to dont have them, isn’t it? ill see once I am in a better shape.
thanks to all
Hope u will find best partner of ur life soon @Anna1 …!!!
