Frankly that’s retarded unless there is some encoded metaphor which would the use of the phrase.
It 's not hard to prove it’s round. Just go out on the ocean and take a photo on large wide screen on calm water. Put a ruler or the equivalence ie a straight line under the two ends of the water and bingo! You can actually see the earth’s curvature. Panning photos works even better. Was something one my high school teachers pointed out once on a photo.
Some people don’t think of the sun is a star.
But are they happy? If they are leave them in ignorance and good for them.

One could most certainly call the earth “flat” right? It’s like a gigantic off beat flat note where it shouldn’t be huh?

An ancient man having visions saw the earth in his mind one night.
Maybe he had never seen a sphere, but all that we know is he saw the earth from the outside in his brain and he wrote “the circle of the earth.” It’s something that an ancient man would write when it came to the shape of the earth.
But bewares, the earth and the way it is structured is itself a metaphor, the literally shapes and things having to do with it are much less important than these metaphorical principles.
I just can’t stop. It won’t let me stop, i don’t even want to, i want to work and play hockey and cook and stuff.
Think about it though, this guy from the times of old gets shown a picture of the earth from outerspace in his mind, what would he write exactly? He’d look at it and call it a circle of course, he wasn’t an educated man in the least, he probably wrote that in a cave or something.

If you stood on a high hill and turned around and looked 360 degrees - it would appear round. Now maybe if you look up in the sky and see a round moon, and a round sun, maybe you would automatically think the world is also round.

The ancients though, they didn’t see “round”, they saw “circle”.
From their very tiny point of view thats all that they knew for the longest time, the moon was a circle, the sun was a circle. Not “spherical” or “round”.

That would be logical. Unless you also saw the sky as flat with the sun and the moon as accessories to the earth which were just coincidently circles.
But just by the view you get from being in the mountains or out on the sea. I have no doubt that for most of human history there has been a portion of human beings that saw the earth as round or spherical. We like to look back and say how dumb and u enlightened they were and how entitled we should feel to live in this age. When really those people managed to hunt, clothe, shelter themselves while living totally in the wild and in a lot of cases while traveling in unfamiliar lands. Granted they weren’t always successful but drop a lot of modern enlightened humans into those scenarios and I’d expect they wouldn’t last long.
We will probably never really know what ancient humans where actually like. They were physiologically very close to us in form and capacities. Things might have been totally different than the popularizes Neanderthalesque view we’ve painted for ourselves.
If you see how accurate ancient maps are - considering they could not take aerial views - and for all their accuracy they were still of the opinion that the world was flat. We think we’re so clever these days but if you dropped someone from 500 years ago in a remote place alongside someone from 2015 - the person from ancient times would survive better I would imagine.
Most modern survivalists have a lot of tech they take with them. Even creature comforts.
Survivor man was cool. Until he got caught sneaking off to casinos at night and stuff.

I don’t think they’re serious. I think it is kind of tongue in cheek fun.
Not that fool! First appears lowbrow but this very lowly approach of human condition on this planet is made for down-to-earth persons with lot of sense.
That’s what I think about those people that figure they can live however they want until they get too old and out of shape to keep up with a certain lifestyle then after all that they “find” god and go straight to heaven.
Blind ignorance is all it is.
