Some ideas of continuous growth and collapse (stress trigger warning)

(I’ve never taken history so I’m leaving stuff out because I’m mostly an autodidact and idc so meowww)

the Egyptians were masters of stone. having made great pyramids that we cannot replicate. then they eventually collapsed. We regressed. The romans were masters of metal, they collapsed and then came medieval times which were most certainly a less civilized time, so regression. Now here we are, masters of electronics and things that come with that, such as medicines. people like molecular biochemists and influential great people living today (ex, Bill Gates) have predicted what’s happening now more or less. a super bug, instead it’s a virus though. It may not yet be our time for collapse and rregression. but it smells to me like we all have been expecting the collapse to be near (some people are hoping for it). It seems the technology eventually moves forward, and we become masters of the new stuff as making medicine and computers are more useful than trying to make a pyramid. we’re the experts at what we do. what I do know is that teachers like to say that history repeats itself.

I’m just blabbing. not trying to induce worry or fear. but for discussion, what do you think will happen if society collapses? which countries do you think will do better? how do you think people will change to survive, cooperation and unity, or anarchy and bloodshed?

have we learned our lesson or will we turn to old habits?

I think climate refugees will be the thing of the future. People all heading North in droves to avoid the searing heat that climate change will produce.

I think Canada will be the destination for many. We have the geography to support many millions more and our winters will probably become milder.
