Sodium benzoate (NaBen) question

When they did the trials of sodium benzoate it Was 21% effective for positive and negative symptoms. So do you think if the participants continued with sodium benzoate for a longer period the positive and negative symptoms would have improved even more?

And say this does cure schizophrenia (probably unlikely) , then why would it be an add-on? Do you think it’s because if it does work it just take a fair bit of time to work.

I’m on my 4th day of taking it. I feel good but I usually go through phases like this so its so hard to really tell.

So if it does anything do you think it takes time and you improve the more you use it?

21% is okay, but at least 40% sounds more realistic if it’s anything close to a cure.

What do you think?

If the participants took it for longer maybe we would of seen a 49% increase?

What are you thoughts?

Have you felt good cognitively since starting sodium benzoate?
What is the dose that you take?
Do you have any side effects?
Do you take anything apart from benzoate?

I think that Benzoate can be tried as a monotherapy, it can be tried perhaps it is superior to antipsychotics
as a monotherapy?
It should be tried and tested, not just as an add on but as monotherapy as well.
The same goes for sarcosine and any other substance.
I want to try benzoate, sarcosine and nootropics.

I take 1 grams twice a day. But I also take Abilify once a week which normalises me and I feel pretty much normal most of the time. But some days I don’t feel the Abilify because it takes a few weeks to have an affect on my system. If I take abilify on say 1st of November, then I won’t feel the effects until about the 10th of November. Abilify makes me feel normal but I have no interest in sex when I feel Abilify kick in. It’s just how my body deals with it. It’s strange.

I’m hoping I can replace Abilify with sodium benzoate (NaBen), but that’s a long shot.

A lot of the time I feel good on Abilify anyway. I feel good now but I’m not sure if it’s the sodium benzoate.

Also, when Abilify takes affect on me I cannot get drunk. I can drink the whole bottle of rum and not get drunk because Abilify just has that effect on me.
So it’s hard to tell what the true effects of sodium benzoate are. I have to wait for a day when I’m more in touch with my feelings. Which is about a couple of times a month.

My body’s weird like that.

I think the “cure” quote from the company is either puffery or a language/translation issue.

But, that doesn’t mean it may not be beneficial.

I don’t think the distribution of effects was published. It’s probably unlikely that everyone had a 21% decrease in symptoms. That was an average. So some people might have no effect, some people might have a big effect. There probably were people with a 40% improvement.

It doesn’t sound like you react typically to the Abilify, so you may have a different reaction to the sodium benzoate as well.

Bear in mind people might be at different doses in the future trails possibly higher doses since this doesn’t have many side effects. They need to find the window where it is effective, I don’t know why they jumped from 60 to 120 in Iti-007, they should have tested 80. That might have been its undoing, giving patients the wrong doses.

They might also find a time release mechanism for this stuff or tamper with the tablet in some way which will affect its efficacy. I think the reason sodium benzoate is being tested as an adjunctive is because it tends to have a shorter time of action, then people will be able to enhance the efficacy of their current drug. Think about it, if we have 4-6 good hours out of the day, maybe when negative sx and cognition feel better that will be a great improvement. You can work, socialize or go to school during those hours.
