Social Work Student interested in Interviewing Someone about their Experiences with Living with Schizophrenia

This request for an interview was approved by SZAdmin via an email communication on 10/20/2015

Hello everyone,

I am a masters of social work student from VA who is in a class about the DSM. We were recently given an assignment about conducting an informal interview with a person who is living with schizophrenia in order to understand their life experiences and how they cope with schizophrenia. The interview is very informal and has very few questions. It is mostly just an opportunity to share your story and to inform some upcoming social workers about what you think is important about schizophrenia. The goal of this presentation is to highlight the personal impact of schizophrenia as opposed to only focusing on the clinical diagnostic criteria and symptoms. Your identity will remain anonymous unless you prefer otherwise, and I can even let you know about how the presentation goes. The interview can be done via email or chat. If you would like to share your narrative, please let me know.

Thank you so much for your time,

Benjii

I’ll do it. Just send me a message.

Thank you so much, what is the best way to contact you?

Can you message me through this site?

If you’d like to interview somebody being treated under the PIER model, i’m considered a textbook prodromal case

I would be willing to do an interview too, but my diagnosis is technically psychosis NOS. in the words of my doctor, “you have schizophrenia, but you also had a brain tumor once, so you can’t technically be diagnosed with schizophrenia.”

I don’t think there is private message-if there is let me know. Email is fine with me, is it okay with you?

mine is maustb@vcu.edu–I can email you if you can provide yours. If not our only other choice is the forum or phone

I’ll go ahead and email you as long as you keep confidentiality.

Actually, I just private messaged you. Look for the green circle with a number in it on the top right corner of this screen. Once you click on it then you should be able to see the private message. Just go ahead and respond.

Cheers

new members have a post limit, keep that in mind

I’ve turned on the Personal Message feature of the forum software for you now. You can do all your communications directly with the people now through the site.

Just click on the person’s avatar and you can “message” them.

I volunteer too.

Ill do it. Just message me through the site if you need anything.

I did interviews on Schizophrenia.com before.
