I think @Wave touched on this.
I find interesting topics keep getting shunted down the board too quickly. So many people posting new and different headers. Back in the day, good topics would hang around the top of the forum for days.
I don’t mind all of the new faces…I suppose this is just the upshot of having so many more people posting now.
In a smaller pool of people, I felt I got to know individuals more intimately. It seems I’m just skimming over the waves with all of the newbies.
I also haven’t spent as much time around here the last few weeks, so that could be part of it too.
I agree. I’ve been a member for almost two years now, and I’ve seen a lot of old members leave and new members come. A lot of times I don’t even recognize the names of posters.
A whole bunch of old timers, gone out of thin air.
I’m still trying to adjust to having all of these new members around.
Perhaps the older posters are frustrated with this influx of newbies, and are staying away in droves?
Change is inevitable I suppose. The forum is a faster pace now…less subtlety and nuance.
Or maybe I’m just being a grumpy old guy…

According to our special forum software, 521 people have signed up since March, and over 2,000 have signed up since last year.
We had a huge spike of new users starting a couple weeks ago. They haven’t been around long enough for you to get to know them, yet. Hopefully, in a few weeks, folks will start looking more familiar to you as you get to know them.
I think it helps a bit when people use something other than the initial letter in a coloured circle as their picture
Also, some forum members change their user names which can be little confusing.

I don’t mind newcomers. I always feel flattered when someone whose only been here a few days or a week likes something I wrote. I like to make good first impressions.
I thought of this too and agree it can be confusing when members keep changing user names.
Yeah I agree with the usernames. It’s hard to nail down personalities and it should be discouraged early! I’m getting old and it all becomes a blur…but if I recognize you I can give you far more advice!
I guess there are a lot of newer posters? huh, I didn’t really notice.
I’ve been here at nights, mainly because the days are a blur, but I feel I just don’t have much to contribute these days.

To me, the thing that bumps the interesting threads down isn’t that there’s a bunch of new users. It’s that there are some users who make a shite-ton of topics about more or less nothing, and then start new ones before they’re finished with the ones they were at.
Yeah it’s a valid point from @Pikasaur . We do have some rubbish posters that should be discouraged. Love the lounge…but it does flood the boards with useless information!
