So is all change with the pdoc meds! Lurasidone (Latuda)

It costs around £120 for a months supply in the uk. From what I have seen it is 10 times that in America. That is crazy

Yes im in the uk and depending on dose can cost up to around £200! But cost effective in the end i feel.

Hi @Jimbob

I take Zeldox which is Geodon. It is the best med for me by far. I love it!
Lurasidone is Latuda and it was the worst for me. Still people like it, so you can try.
Zeldox is tough to start : @Anna has been suffering because of it.

Good luck!

I take Zeldox 80 mg at night only + melatonin supplement.

I took latuda for about 6 months and it gave me insatiable sugar cravings, I gained 50 pounds. Needless to say I’m not a fan.

I tried switching from seroquel to latuda back in January. Its a shame I backed out, Latuda would have been a great drug. I got up to 80mg and felt completely incapacitated. A 5-6 month reduction time might be ideal, I did it in a matter of 2-3 weeks. Not a good idea. living life unhealthily is no way to live, so this is a necessary shift for sure. consider trying other weight neutral meds like aripiprazole or ziprasidone, latuda is pretty expensive.

Geodon is miserable because of its short half life. If you take this med you need to take it like clockwork and my job and general life just doesn’t allow for that all the time. (Today I was so busy I only ate once at 11 am and didn’t get back until 9 pm to eat dinner!)

If you don’t take it like clockwork you get withdrawal effects, then you get rebound effects from taking it during the withdrawal that are stronger than normal. If you’re someone that can take it like clockwork then I don’t imagine you’d have too much trouble. Also this is the only AP that is actually having me lose weight!! So that’s a positive. It doesn’t work 100% for my symptoms though. I’d give it a 70%. Maybe 60%. Made voices go away (demons) and I’m not having delusional thoughts as often but my visual hallucinations have actually gotten STRONGER and it doesn’t help with my paranoia.

I’m switching to lurasidone in the near future, when I go into hospital which could be up to two weeks away. I’m on amisulpride just now, it’s taken every positive symptom away for over 4 years now but the negative symptoms are so disabling. Nice to know that @jimbob is from Glasgow same as me AND going to be starting on the same medication soon :fearful: Such a small world…

Seroquel dropped my BP to 71/43 and tried to knock me unconscious three times. So can’t take that I tried Latuda back in 2011.for whatever reason I can’t take newer generation antipsychs. They seem to work for a lot of folks. I noticed the atypical target a lot of receptors versus the some of the older typicals only target a handful of receptors in the brain. Idk. I feel like giving up. Hope you feel better on your Latuda!
