I am finding lately that contrary to what the sleep experts say I seem to sleep just fine if not better with the bedroom lights on. I think I feel more secure with them on and I used to do the same thing when I had anxiety as a kid. I think with sleep the main thing is to do things which add to your sense of safety.
Hey even I do the same when I am alone. I sleep with light on.
Totally agree.
I sleep downstairs cause my husband snores very loudly all night. He has a gaming computer down here with a clear side window that emits colored light. I have become very reliant on that.
No way I can sleep in total darkness, have always had at least two nightlights.
I do the same thing! And I agree, there’s no one right way, do what works best for you.
I like to keep my shoes on as well.
I sleep with the hall light on when im home alone
Since I have gotten Sam we have had the lights on dim in the bedroom. So if she has to get up in the middle of the night she can find her way around without falling off the bed. The first night that the power went out she fell off the bed, she was young so it shook her up a bit. I’ve just kept them on even though now she can apparently navigate in the dark better than I can.
We have a night light, which works well for me.
I sometimes turn this on at bedtime it gives out a red sleeping light that is calming, reassuring and makes me feel safe.
I sleep with the lights on when I’m struggling. It helps to make me more comfortable. I understand why people do it.
True when I’m sad or maybe depressed I can’t/don’t gat to my lamp at night to switch off.
I just slept for about twenty hours. My sleep patterns are all over the place.

when I was in psychosis I saw red dots in the dark that would stop in light so I always leave them on.
