Sleep apnea?

I’ve been googling non stop all day. Just had my pdoc appointment this afternoon and he informed me that my reported sleeping problems could be sleep apnea. I need to book an appointment with my GP to look into things further but I’m worried this might be the case. I’m very over weight with a BMI of 40 and I have trouble breathing through my nose when I lie down. I have to bite the sides of my tongue to prop my mouth open to breathe comfortably. Anyone with experience in sleep disorders or sleep apnea? I’d love thoughts and opinions on this subject matter.

Nah, just insomnia for me…

I harp on this often but did you look it up on Wikipedia as of yet? Wikipedia helped me once in a big way.

I didn’t look on Wikipedia specifically but I looked on lots of the medical websites. I think I have a lot of symptoms of sleep apnea.

I looked it up and it sounds as though they may try to do a “Sleep Study”? But of course that’s probably getting ahead of things.

@anon64158233 I wouldn’t mind doing a sleep study if my insurance would help pay for it. I’d really like to know why I wake up so much during the night.

LS! I have sleep apnea. I had a horrible GP who gave it no attention and for years I slept up to twenty hours daily. Then I took another GP and I was given a CPAP Philips dream station with face mask to sleep with and my sleep returned to normal. My BMI is over 40 too. I sleep very well with this CPAP. Only thing is I do not clean it often enough and probably this gave me trouble with my teeth.

I know a lot about sleep apena in general because I’m slowly developing breathing weakness from a genetic condition.
You should go to a pulmonologist or do a sleep study if you can.
