Sleep and psychosis relationship

I don’t know how much doctors know about schizophrenia and psychosis but the last time I researched the web said that when psychosis happens certain chemicals are released in the brain like Dopamine but I don’t know if that is the reason or those changes happen due to response to another event like correlation vs causation. Today I was thinking to myself what if the brain doesn’t know it’s not sleeping and the line is blurred and then we start dreaming while we are asleep as well. Does anyone know anything about this? What do you think?

I have both schizoaffective disorder and get hypnogogic hallucinations. Dont know if there is a correlation.

I know too much dopaminergic activity in your brain can cause allucinations. I take invega and it blocks the Dopamine 2 receptor. Works for me. Too much serotoninergic activity also causes hallucinations. For example, lsd molecule looks exactly like the serotonin molecule so when you take lsd it connects to your serotonine receptors causing excessive serotonine in your brain.

Maybe the drug causes insomnia as a side effect when u get the drug out of your system u recover and start sleeping again but for invega it takes 2 years

I take clonazepam to regulate my sleep.

I dont think its dreaming while awake. Sz has lots of symptoms like disorganization and paranoia and irritability etc. Dreaming while awake doesnt seem to fit the bill. Im not an expert just my opinion
