Skin cancer

I have a new, small black dot on my stomach. Its flat, very small and black-ish in colour. Skin cancer runs in my dads side of the family. Should I be worried? My hypochondria is telling me I have skin cancer. Maybe I should go see a doctor. Does anyone have experience with skin cancer? Does anyone know any other harmless causes of black dots on skin? Thanks guys.

I have a black dot on my right shoulder that we just watch like a hawk…should be nothing to worry about.

Yeah man, hopefully for both of us its nothing to worry about and its harmless.

You know it probably is nothing.

But it is good to be safe than sorry might as well run it past your GP if it makes you feel a little anxious.

I’m growing a sticky outie mole on my hip atm I will try to remember mentioning it too. Just to see what they say

I had skin cancer. But not melanoma. Squamous cell. I just for whatever reason ran my hand across my chest and felt a rough spot and it seemed different. Red flags went off and I went to look at it in the mirror. It looked like other patches of sun damage on my chest, but it felt very different. I was seeing my dr. a couple days later and I said look at this, it feels weird. He immediately removed it.

I think if your gut is telling you it’s off, it is best to have it checked. A very small melanoma can lead to big trouble in case you didn’t know and there is absolutely no harm in getting it checked.

I’m going to message my doctor tomorrow and ask him about it. He’ll probably ask for a picture of it. I’ll also try to see him on one of my days off if he thinks its worth looking at.

I get too much sun. I have spots and it really is something you need a good doctor for. Honestly. The spots I think are bad have turned out perfectly fine. The ones I wasn’t worried about were nasty scc’s. We have a bad climate for sun cancers and mum passed away from melanoma so I get checked every 6 months or so…but get a doctor who knows skin cancers if possible.

Sorry to hear that. May she rest in paradise.

I got every bump, dot, mole and black spot somewhere on my back and my arms. My dermatologist says I’m fine. Unless you’re out in the sun a lot and get a lot of sunburns it shouldn’t be dangerous. Just keep an eye on it to see if it grows. If it grows, it could be harmful.
