Has anyone ever had or heard about these side effects from antipsychotics? Several times a day I have moments where I feel a little light headed. If I’m walking I have to stop for a minute. Sometimes I see white for a second. Usually take a deep breath in the midst of this. I think because I have to. Not sure though. Have a little bit of odd body movement. This happens for 5 seconds or so and sometimes several times a day. Never passed out or fallen and it’s been happening since I started taking Antipsychotics last summer. My doc prescribed Benztropine, which I just started so not sure if that will help yet. Can anyone relate to any of this? Thx.
Ah,your experiencing the twitches? Odd body movement. I get them from every medication I take. The higher the dose the more twitching. Had them in your face yet? It’s really irratating! If the side effects get to annoying you can switch to another pill or shot. And try your luck with that one. You may find meds that have no side effects at all,you are lucky if you do. I’m on my 3rd rx and still having funny uncontrollable movements. I’ve been told they all do something weird to us. The worst side effect is insomnia. It’s common. Sometimes I’m awake 20 hours straight. I run out of stuff to do.
antipsychotics can give you odd body movements, such as twitches, tremors, shaking, involuntary movement, etc. its called akathisia. it happened to me really bad with abilify, and I had to be switched off of it.
if the involuntary movement gets really bad, or you shake frequently tell your doctor about it. it can cause tardive dyskinesia, which is permanent.
A wise person once told me that if you start twiching in your trunk, or tongue you should find a new medication. I had parkinsonian symptoms, my left knee twiched often, it sucked. But i went down on my medicine some and it went away.
Be advised. Terrible idea to go down on medicine without your psychiatrist telling you to do so!
not enough oxygen getting to the brain causes lightheadedness. antipsychotics are also called tranquilizers, you may need some caffeine, caffeine works for 12 hours after digestion.
Thank you, everyone, for the feedback. I thought this is what was happening. I’ll talk to the doc a little more. Also, I do drink caffeine. Not sure if it helps much with this but it does keep me from sleeping all the time!
I have been adversely affected by these medications. I have no thoughts in my head, no emotions, no motivation, acne on my face, back, neck and arms, dry mouth, I can’t feel when I’m hungry, full, thirsty, I can’t even tell if I have to go to the bathroom. I can’t get aroused and have sex. I never feel tired, or rested, I go to sleep, and I sometimes have insomnia, I close my eyes and have a dead zombie sleep. I have vivid dreams, wake up 3x in the morning and my heart is palpitating, drenched in sweat and I’m quite flatulent. I’ve been having a few days of feeling hopeful, but otherwise, I have crushing depression and suicidal thoughts and sometimes cry. I’ve been off for 2 months and have not really been noticing any improvements. Slight shifts in my mood, but that’s it and it could just be withdrawals.
I think benztropine is useless. I’ve taken it. Didn’t help. Typical antipsychotic gave me dysyonia and akathisia. Now Seroquel makes me feel ■■■■ a little while after I take it. Due to sedation I guess, but it quickly goes away.
