Should threads on here show up on Google

I personally get paranoid about all the posts I’d rather the world didn’t see.

I feel like since we all have paranoia to some extent, this forum should only be accessible to members who sign up

I don’t want to stir strife here but this is important and I hope we can all agree on something

Need to show up in searches or no one would ever find it

I mean individual threads. The site would show up on Google searches but not threads for example, that show our pics

As discussed in the other poll thread, this is a great idea.

@Nomad

Maybe I’m wrong, but threads would show in a Google search (it does on other mental health websites). The reason is because this website is public domain.

Yep it’s public domain

It would be hard to limit bots from reading the site and indexing it, you would have to ban them, in which case the site itself would not be indexed. I’m sure there is a way but the site is free and has a limited budget, and as paranoid as I am someone would have to have a pretty sad life to be tracking me on here.

If you are worried do not post real pictures of yourself or anything related that can identify you, pick a username that is unsearchable, something that is very common

For me, I’ve always felt like, if I’m being monitored then whoever is doing the monitoring already knows who I am and what I look like, so I’m not too concerned with them also reading what I post on here. If they see everything else, doesn’t bother me that they see this too.

I don’t post pictures and there are lots of Toms in the world. I think my physichaitrist could identify me if she read my posts but she probably has better things to do so I don’t worry about it. I have had paranoia about as bad as it gets I would guess. It was pretty bad.

I have to be honest, I get paranoid about this, too. Especially since most of my real life associates know I am a moderator. That narrows it down to four people, so it wouldn’t be difficult for them to figure out who I am on here, even though I don’t post any identifying information.

Can someone track who you are as a user and where your posts or information is coming from? Like an IP address? I have people constantly hunting for my information. Everywhere and every way and it takes courage to be here but I need to have something.

No, they can’t. Moderators can see that information, but no one else can.

Thanks @Rhubot good to know

If you tag a title in specific way it will rank in Google better than if it was non specific

SEO 101 :yum:

Ex. Search "CBT analysis charts for negative symptoms of schizophrenia.

Ranks 1st

I wasn’t really that worried about it until I read this. I guess whenever you go online you’re out in public. Having this forum is worth it.

Its still anon… Well as anon as you make it anyway… If you use your real name post personal pics and specific info …being easily findable is… Kinda your own fault… Right?.. I don’t feel worried about this site but I don’t compromise my anon… I’ve shared what country and state I’m in…but not what town…I’ve only posted personal pics…of food And fun fact flame isn’t my real name or a nickname I’ve ever been called lol…
