The clozapine and abilfiy combo don’t fully work
You need to have that discussion with a pro because even if you want to , you can’t unless they prescribe it to you. These aren’t over the counter.
I will talk to my doc yes
I went from a high dosage of Olanzapine, 40mg, (which is one the stronger antipsychotics) to a relatively low dose of Lurasidone, 60mg, (which is a weaker antipsychotic) and am doing much better.
If you are not satisfied with your current APs then talk to your doc and try something else because you can’t predict what will or will not work. You also can’t predict which ones will give you side effects.
Your pdoc will probably say nothing else will work because clozapine is the med of last resort, but I would take that with a grain of salt. Statistically speaking she would be correct, but in reality some other AP could work even better for YOU. Tell her about me that went from 40mg of Olanzapine to 60mg of Lurasidone and did so well I started working again.
No guarantees that other meds will work, or they might have horrible side effects, but since you’re not satisfied with your current meds, try something else. I’ve tried several APs. Lurasidone was the best for me so I’m sticking with it.
Should I try ECT then?
I think ECT is usually a last resort. How many aps have you been on?
Clozapine is supposed to be a last resort drug too
You need to stop asking us what meds, at what dosage you should take, and also whether or not other methods of treatment are good for you. We are not doctors. Even if we were, we would need to see you and look at your history and current symptoms. We can’t possibly know these answers. Talk to your pdoc about what you should do
I know but ny doc is busy
I requested ECT, and was told by 3 psychiatrists that ECT doesn’t work for schizophrenia.
A friend on the ward who had major depression was given ECT, and ended up staying on the ward a lot longer due to her excitement.
She left the ward on a day leave and spent around £200 on chocolate for everyone on the ward.
The excitement started to stop after about 3 weeks and she was a different person. It Worked wonders!!
Regarding schizophrenia , I don’t think your pdoc will say yes? Here in the UK they don’t give it to anyone with schizophrenia
But hey, its well worth asking though x
I see. That’s sad
clozapine is heavy medicine with lots of side effects
but maybe the most effective medicine for psychosis
Then you’ll have to wait until the dr can see you next. Make a list of questions for your next appointment and bring it with you to hand over to your dr
Yes I’m on clozapine but it doesnt fully take the paranoia away
i have 600mg clozapine and i still experience suspicions and paranoia
but not so much like when i was in psychosis.
i guess we just have to live with it. meds dont always help fully
@Crystal-Cotton hey btw. we spoke alot on facebook before but then you dissapeared.
What is your name ? Pls message me again
That’s up to you.
They wanted to do ECT with me but I refused.
