Should I share with coworkers?

I’ve been working for the same company for 20 years. Have a good reputation at work. Have shared about my illness with some people. Thinking about sharing with others at work. What do you think?

I’m not an expert in this stuff but maybe you should talk to HR first. There are some people that may treat you differently because of the stigma associated with it.

I’m sure some people may treat me different. I feel like as someone that has been fortunate enough to have a good recovery. Maybe I can help the stigma for the few people I work with.

people will definitely judge you if you disclose to the wrong people. i have very visible self harm scars and hate it because my coworkers and customers always make comments about it.tread carefully

I don’t. This is hate monger city. Can be harassed so bad by the crazy hate churches calling people on aid after mental care thieves. Better to never get noticed due to stigma/discrimination imho.

Maybe ask yourself what you want to or expect to gain by sharing.

I wouldn’t share with my coworkers. There’s no need for any of them to know.

I have not shared with coworkers. They don’t need to know. Would you tell them if you were depressed? People will judge you and treat you different.

Honestly, if you are high functioning, pass as neurotypical, are focused on your recovery, I see no issue in not telling them.

The more we tell people, and prove the stigmas wrong, the less stigma there is.

If all of us that are well did this, the world would be a different place.

I think you shouldn t tell anyone.because other people would not know to your illness level and they could misunderstand you.because word of schizophrenia is hard cruel meaning that people can have wrong judgement about you.

After 20 years they already know you as a person so I don’t think telling them will be a problem. I’m not sure about the laws where you are but here they wouldn’t actually be allowed to treat you differently because that’s discrimination / workplace bullying and can lead to instant dismissal. You’re capable of showing people this is not an illness exclusive so sociopaths and serial killers and if you’re comfortable with sharing then do so! You have nothing to be ashamed of. Just consider all the possible outcomes
