Should i change my pdoc?

I had my appt yesterday for prescribing meds, and she said i’m treatment resistant. I was in shock when i heard that. Should i just change my pdoc or what?

What made her say that?

What’s you diagnosis? What meds are you on? Did she try to change your meds or offer any suggestions? When do you see her again?

@Mountainman We talked a bit and i said that she might work undercover as anyone else. And she said i’m treatment resistant lol, i don’t agree with her.

I would change doctors, if I never got along with the one I was seeing

Paranoid sz. I’m on 9 mg of Invega, i see her once a month. She changed my meds but not lately, i was on Abilify, Zyprexa- olanzaoine, Risperidone and now Invega

do you still have positive symptoms? If so then maybe you are treatment resistant. I have had bouts of treatment resistant MDD and they just kept changing the ad, which completely messed with my mind, I always had the suspicion it was making me worse though. Eventually MDD will resolve and they want to attribute it to the last med they had you on. I always thought “no I got better despite that medicine”. I don’t know if it works the same way with paranoid sz, I don’t think it resolves on it’s own like MDD can.

I don’t hear voices anymore, i told her that, maybe just paranoid thinking and a lot of mania tbh edit: let’s just say weird thoughts

I think you should ASK her why she thinks you’re treatment resistant… it’s probably cuz you’ve been on so many atypicals already and still have positive symptoms.

They just started me on 2 atypicals together, Abilify plus Seroquel, and it has helped my delusions and paranoia a lot…but I still hear Voices. I’ve been on every AP that’s sold in the U.S. except Rexulti and Invega and, I admit, part of my treatment resistance probably happened cuz I kept/keep going off my meds.

See if your pdoc is willing to try polypharmacy with 2 antipsychotics, maybe you’ll respond well. Good luck.

What haven’t you tried? Have you tried clozaril? I heard it’s good for those that tend to be treatment resistant. A lot of aps don’t work for me either but I did find a couple that help. Do you have anxiety problems. I have found that having my anxiety treated helps with the sz immensely

Exactly what i’m most afraid of. I’ve read only bad things about that med

Clozaril can be very helpful, but it comes with a lot of strings attached…mainly the weekly blood draws to test whether your white blood cells have dropped too low. Also, if you miss 2 days you have to start titrating again from the lowest dose. It’s a good, useful med, but it’s not for everyone. I tried it and it worked pretty well but I’m really bad about taking meds twice a day so missed doses then went off it cuz I got psychotic again. Now I take everything at night and I’m more compliant…
