Should I be concerned?

My left thumb feels like it shakes and twitches since starting Abilify. Should I be concerned? It’s only a little, but I worry about getting tremors or the one side effec t, tardive dyskinesia (sp?)

Would a little jerkiness be a sign? I plan to ask my pdoc, but i don’t have a visit for a while.

I’m on abilify and had this for a few weeks (about a year-ish ago). It went away.

Talk to your doc. But there’s a few other non serious things it could be.

I had the same thing when I was going through benzo withdrawal. It’s gone now.

It’s been about a month. It isn’t huge or very noticeable.

I was concerned that it was TD too. But it wasn’t. So don’t get too concerned yet. Talk to your psychiatrist to put your mind at rest.

They may tell you to talk to your GP as it could be something else.

I’ve had a lot worse motor side effects that turned out to be nothing. But tell your doctor anyway.

I had twitches and jerks on my left thumb and hand for a while.
I mentioned it to my psychiatrist but she didn’t feel that it was TD.

It died down some but noticed it’s coming back a bit since raising the risperidone dose to 5mg.

I would mention it to your doctor just in case.

It could be drug induced Parkinson’s “DIP” twitching of the thumb sometimes coincide with the index finger. It should go away with some cogentin( benztropine)
