Shaking 15151

Does anyone get the shakes from their AP? My fingers and face have been twitching

I feel like this sometimes, like I can’t stop moving. I thought it might of been the voices from my sz but I think it might be someone messing me up.

Report it to your doctor. It might be akathisia, which can be counter-acted with a second med. you might also be developing TD, though that’s way less likely. If it is TD though, your doctor needs to know right away so they can switch you to another med.

Either way, you shouldn’t have to just live with the shaking.

My hands shake, but not too much.

I had this on Haloperidol. I had to switch in the end. Latuda also gave me akathisia.

Good news is there are other meds out there that don’t do this as badly.

Hi! So with the shaking, you can ask for an anticonvulsant (meds for seizures and essential tremors). I had seizures for several months and my doctor prescribed me anti-seizure medications.
My case is a little different. However, it’s good to ask your doctor about what is going on.

I get bad shakes. Drinking out of a cup is so awful. I can barely print my name. Texting is difficult.
Mine is because of lithium which I’m slowly weaning myself off with pdocs blessing.

What does TD stand for?

Tardive Dyskinesia

Tardive dyskinesia. It’s a rare but serious side effect of most antipsychotics.

My left hand involuntarily moves from time to time, but it’s kind of subtle.
I’m still going to let my doctor know.

Thanks guys. I think I have TD or Parkinson’s. Need to see a neuro doctor.

Let your prescribing doctor know about your twitches first.
He can refer you to a specialist if need be.

Have you tried upping your dose of AP? @TheCanuk

Oh man, I honestly think that I have TD as well.
My left thumb and part of my hand moves on it’s own, it’s more than a twitch, and it’s more prevalent than I thought!
Maybe I should call her about it.
I see her next week.

Smart move @Wave

I read the autobiography of Michael J Fox, and he stated that his onset of Parkinsons was a mere pinky twitch.

Fanapt gave me the onset? Beginning? Idk the proper term, of TD, but it went away after coming off of it.

I had uncontrollable head jerking movements. Please let your pdoc know so if it is TD they can di their best to stop it from becoming permanent.
