My primary care nurse practitioner ran full STD testing on me as I was sexually active and afraid I caught something. Everything, gonorrhea, syphilis, Hepatitis, Chlamydia, HIV came back negative. The herpes is still pending. How bad is herpes if I have it?
It good to get regular blood work done regardless… Good call for getting tested… I dont have herpes… but as I understand it, you get what starts as like a pimple like bump on your lip, area, whatever, which blisters, fills with fluid, busts, and the fluid that comes out and gets everywhere is rich with Virus. No cure, no real treatment. Just a few ointments to promote healing of the sores. As I understand, it’s not harmful to your health, just one’s self esteem - potentially. I don’t think Herpes can go hidden like syphilis can, causing extensive damage along the line. It’s just unsitely and theres a stigma around it.
Thanks @JudasK. I’ve heard of herpes but don’t know anything about it.
If you’re going to get a terrible disease at least an STD is the funnest one while you’re getting it.
Thanks @77nick77
I don’t know for sure but I don’t think it’s as bad as hiv or hepatitis
Thanks @Zoe 151515
Typically signaled by a weeping sore on the lips or genitals.
There are medicated creams and pills for outbreaks.
It’s very common, easily treatable.
Thanks @Ooorgle. That’s reassuring.
Yup yup. I did some rotations in a free clinic. I saw plenty of it.
Thanks @Naarai
An easy way to not get STDs is
- Abstain and
- Wrap it up
I don’t know if you can get herpes from kissing someone. You can ask your doctor
Can you get herpes from kissing someone?
If someone has a sore on their mouth you can.
Also, condoms are not fully protective against herpes – you can still get it, even if you use one.
Oh wow . Thanks for the info.
I know, right? Kind of not fair.
You got that right!
If they are having an active outbreak, sores, then yes, there is a chance of contracting it.
When symptoms aren’t active the risk is extremely low. I’ve had experience with couples that have been together years without infecting their partner.
