I have been dealing with severe dizziness for about a year now off and on. I think it’s the drug I’m on that’s doing it…now. the dizziness is very severe and feels like I’m on a very rocky boat. I feel faint, I felt like I almost wasn’t gonna make it home from my walk today. These episodes last months at a time. The psych upped my dose at the beginning of January and I didn’t start taking it till my last 1 month episode of dizzy subsided. I was ok for a week and the dizziness came back so I started just taking the lower dose he prescribed, as he said to do if I had any problems. I have also been having problems with low blood pressure so I thought this was the issue. So the pdoc told me to eat more salt. I did and that seems to have help my blood pressure for the most part. Since my blood pressure improved and the dizziness went away again I tried for the second time to take the increased dose on Saturday evening and immediately got dizzy, went to sleep a d woke up a d felt mostly fine till I was coming back from my walk a d felt like the world was moving and like I was gonna faint. And I have been dizzy since. And I’m afraid this is gonna be yet another long period of time of dizziness.
Has this happened to anyone. And is it normal to have this severe of a reaction to medication?
Some antipsychotics cause low orthostatic blood pressure (when standing up). Once I accidently took double dose of my blood pressure meds and I became very dizzy holding walls when walking to not fall.
I get really intense dizzy spells. It doesn’t happen when standing up. For instance, I’ll be watching a movie for an hour, and suddenly it strikes. Or I’ll be lying in bed at night and it’ll strike. It’s awful, and has nothing to do with changing positions
I used to have severe dizziness on clozapine. I had to reduce the dose to a very low level and now I’m better. Don’t suffer in silence and talk to your pdoc would be my advice.
Yes I go through the same thing. It just happens and it really debilitating. Do you think this is a side effect of medication? I’m thinking I want to change my meds but they have worked so well for me minus the dizziness of course.
I don’t know what it’s from. I hope it’s not my Haldol.
