Seroquel and olanzapine

Do you know what would be the equivalent to 25 mg Seroquel if it was in olanzapine? My psych nurse said that 25 mg of Seroquel is not as strong as 2,5 mg olanzapin

It’s equivalent to 1.66mg olanzapine I believe. But you can’t really compare in that way since they are very different drugs. Zyprexa has a very long half life, up to 50 hours or more, while seroquel has halflife of about 7 hours.

So Seroquel would soon be out of body?

Yeah. 7 hours half like means that you would have 12,5mg in your system after 7 hours. By the time you take your next dose you would only have like 2-3mg in your system.

But a bit more if you take it on a regular basis as a pile on effect.

I just so badly want to be free off meds. I have been on AP for almost 4 years but Im scared of insomnia

I totally understand. I would like to be med free too. 25mg seroquel isn’t bad though.

You could try to taper off it with a pill cutter. Go from 25 to 12,5. Or you could even cut the pill in quarts for a slower taper and go to 18.75.

But I wouldn’t risk it if you fear relapse or have a history of recent relapse.

It is actually a little different for me. I don’t have very strong psychosis. I was diagnosed with borderline personality before the schizophrenia so I think my psychosis might be just micro psychosis.

I think it’s a good comparison, but not completely accurate. For instance if you convert 75mg seroquel to zyprexa it says 5mg zyprexa. If you convert 25mg seroquel to zyprexa it says 2.5mg zyprexa. It seems to operate within whole pills only.

Yes I don’t think that 25 mg match with 2,5 mg olanzapin. I don’t feel sedated the same way

Olanzapine is easier on your Heart. Quetiapine will knacker you.

Do you say that Seroquel is dangerous? But I feel much better

Not really. But FYI my BPM has been 120 on the stuff. So ive cut it down againest the advice of doctors.

It really does raise your heart rate. But im just a patient - so dont take my words as gospel.
