Scientists unravel the causes of schizophrenia

that’s good news! atleast young people and children that develope sz will have hope for a cure through genetic therapy

If you ask me they haven’t found ■■■■ that applies to us dealing with telepathy. I’m not a rat, let’s see them crack this, jack ass!

Last I checked they’re still using the same medications they discovered by accident. Promises, promises!

And they’re touted “third generation” meds work worse for me than the older ones. I don’t see progress!

The real next gens I bet will be based on pot, the same drug they say caused us to be schizo. Only thing in the way is greed!

New cure for schizo: change your DNA into someone else. Great solution! Only catch is you are no longer “YOU”. You get to be a drone like everyone else!

The only side effect is you might grow fur and a tail!

Whose DNA are they going to replace your “defective” brain chemistry with, a compliant slave? The average person will give a person enough electroshock to kill them. It is proven!

Just look at what the average person is doing to us, writing us off as pathological lunatics and retards. They used to put us inside dungeons. You trust these idiots enough to replace your brain chemistry with theirs?

BTW where is their clinical DNA test? There is NONE. Yet they found the cause and attributed it to a single gene? They’ve been giving this narrative for decades, except this contradicts the common one currently that multiple “mutations” are involved related to add, autism, and bipolar. Like I said, eugenics and social darwinism!

The same website claims to know how to become a millionaire with $40. This sure sounds legitimate!

I wouldn’t give these quak scientists the last bit of credit until they come up with something that works!

If you ask me all they did was find a way for someone to give our disease to a person that wouldn’t have got it without this new finding more test for the government and scientist to run

If they found the soul gene responsible for schizophrenia, where is their clinical DNA test? Once that happens, I will take it seriously. Also, if it were just a single gene, I wouldn’t hesitate to get gene therapy, assuming it were proven and I wasn’t just a guinea pig. My former posts in this thread were for the most part said in jest.

Maybe there is something in it all?

The thing is do they really understand all the processes involved? & what is critical, is how will all this translate into better treatments? Something that genuinely improves brain function would be good - instead of the usual brain disabling treatments.

It does also say at the beginning of the article - ‘The causes—it seems—are equally complex, with a combination of physical, psychological, environmental and genetic factors implicated’. All areas need to be properly addressed.

There are grave moral issues with genetic therapy. It’s too valuable a technology not to develop, but we need to do some serious thinking about it.

“spine pruning, hyperactive neurons and excessive dopamine”

I first heard this combo discussed about ten years ago. It made sense then, and makes sense now, but not as the “sole cause” of sz. I’ve just seen waaaaaay to many environmental factors in play.

Am I the only one who thinks that all this “gene”-things is kinda…Idk…Nazi?
