Im pretty sure weed gave me schizophrenia

If studies continue to show evidence then someone should try to put warnings on legal marijuana products. Stating people with schizophrenia should not use and has been correlated to induce the condition of schizophrenia.

While not everyone who uses cannabis develops schizophrenia, research indicates a link between cannabis use and an increased risk of developing the disorder, especially in young people. Specifically, a study found that young men aged 21-30 who have cannabis use disorder may have as high as a 30% proportion of preventable cases of schizophrenia related to their use. In addition, studies suggest that about 15% of schizophrenia cases among young men were attributable to cannabis use disorder, while the figure was about 4% for women.

Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  • Increased Risk:

Studies suggest that cannabis use, especially regular or heavy use, can increase the risk of developing schizophrenia, particularly in individuals who are already genetically predisposed to the disorder.

  • Young People:

The risk is particularly heightened in young people, with research indicating that a higher percentage of schizophrenia cases among young men may be linked to cannabis use disorder.

  • Not a Direct Cause:

While cannabis use is associated with an increased risk, it’s important to remember that it’s not a direct cause of schizophrenia. Individuals may have a genetic predisposition or other factors that make them more susceptible to developing the disorder, and cannabis use may trigger the development of schizophrenia in these individuals, according to Psych Central.

  • Specific Numbers:

A study found that among a group of individuals who had ever used cannabis, 1.4% developed schizophrenia. However, this doesn’t represent the percentage of cannabis users who specifically developed schizophrenia as a direct result of cannabis use.

  • Legalization and Potency:

Studies have also highlighted the impact of cannabis legalization and the increasing potency of marijuana on the link between cannabis and schizophrenia, with some studies indicating a rise in the proportion of schizophrenia diagnoses attributed to cannabis use disorder.

They do this in Canada already apparently.

I tried edibles once and it took me into a bad psychotic state where the world was folding into itself in visual hallucinations. People with psychotic disorders should definitely stay away from cannabis products! It’s legal to buy cannabis in Alaska and i wish they would put warnings on the products they sell here, it would save so many minds.
